Broomfield,
CO – April 05, 2006: DirectNET, Inc. is getting
ready to host their second blood drive on May 31, 2006 from
10:00am to 3:30pm and it seems people are taking it a little
personal.
“As a fetus, I suffered from a condition called Erythroblastosis
fetalis. This condition is caused by a mother building up
antibodies against her fetus due to blood type incompatibility.
My mom is RH- and I am RH+. I’m the 4th child of four, so by the
time I came around my mother’s body had built up antibodies to
fight my blood type. My next eldest sibling was also affected by
this, but to a lesser extent. This disorder causes inflammation
of the liver and spleen, edema and jaundice and death. For sever
cases like mine, blood transfusions are usually necessary. I was
delivered by C-section, six weeks premature because of declining
health issues in the womb. My uncle who was a police officer
arranged to have any O positive officers in his unit to be “on
call” for direct transfusions. The direct transfusions were
basically 10cc out and 10cc in types of deals where the donors
came in when the doctors needed them to on a 24/7 basis. My
uncle was the first to give me a transfusion and was there
throughout my first few weeks. I actually received 7 of these
direct transfusions from several of my “blood brothers.” All in
all seven guys including my uncle donated to me,” Jon Inaba
Director of Sales and Operations.
People all over DirectNET are sharing there stories about lives
saved.
“When my mother was about 12 years old she had to have her
tonsils removed. After she got home from the hospital she
started bleeding uncontrollably. They rushed her back to the
hospital where the doctor informed her family that she would
most likely not survive due to the amount of blood loss. They
called in a priest to read her last rights. The doctors did a
blood transfusion as a last ditch effort to save her life. If
there was not blood available for her and she had not had that
transfusion she would not be alive today and she would never
have had me. I am here today because of a blood transfusion.” -
