Press Release - 42U Joins The Green Grid
Broomfield, CO—February 5, 2008:
42U (http://www.42u.com/)
the nation's largest, vendor-independent valued-added reseller
of data center infrastructure solutions, today announced its
membership in The Green Grid, a non-profit consortium dedicated
to advancing energy efficiency in data centers and business
computing ecosystems. With 42U's large portfolio of solutions
specifically designed to mitigate the growing power and cooling
demands of today's data centers, 42U is closely aligned with The
Green Grid's mission of defining user-centric models and
metrics; developing standards, measurement methods, processes
and new technologies to improve data center performance; and
promoting the adoption of energy efficient standards, processes,
measurements and technologies.
"We believe the green effort can see significant benefits if we
can encourage today's data centers to reduce power consumption
by implementing energy efficiency best practices," commented
Alan Mamane, CEO and Founder of 42U.
The teams of IT Infrastructure Consultants at 42U works closely
with customers to create a holistic view of their energy use and
provide solutions that are best for the organization, and the
environment. By partnering with The Green Grid, 42U is making
the commitment to the green effort.
With the rising demand for high-performance computing, comes
rising energy demands and rising energy costs. The EPA estimates
that 10 more power plants will be needed before 2012, just to
support IT growth. (Source, Energy Star 2007 -

Despite the fact that power consumption is one of the most
important issues facing IT today, there is a lack of
vendor-neutral guidelines and resources available for those
looking to drive a change. The Green Grid is working to change
this by developing a unified voice around data center efficiency
issues.
"We've seen, first-hand, the energy, cost and white space saving
that can be achieved by optimizing an existing environment,"
notes Patrick Cameron, Director of Business Development for 42U.
"Instituting a green effort does not require sacrificing
application uptime or systems availability."
